Nicole FONTAINE makes a date with the euro at midnight on 31 December

The President of the European Parliament will experience at first hand the historic arrival of the euro at midnight on 31 December in Nice.
Between midnight and 12.15 a.m. she will go to a branch of the Banque Populaire de la Côte d'Azur (20 Boulevard Jean Jaurès - near Place Masséna) where she will withdraw the first banknotes from the cashpoint. She will then walk to a local grocer's in order to make a symbolic purchase (Epicerie central, 2, rue de la Loge - on the central square in the old quarter of Nice).
