On 25 February 2024, the Abu Dhabi Session of the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO will take place.

This gathering, co-organised by the European Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union and hosted by the Federal National Council of UAE, will be held on the eve of the WTO Thirteenth Ministerial Conference (MC13) at this time of geopolitical, economic, development and climate challenges.

A delegation of nine Members of the European Parliament, all of the Committee on International Trade, will meet parliamentarians from all over the world to enter into dialogue with WTO negotiators and officials on future tasks and opportunities facing the body (more info).

The topics on the agenda include 'shaping and strengthening a multilateral trading system that delivers for all', 'trade and climate change: a win-win interaction' and digital trade in the era of resilient economies'.

At the end of the Conference, the parliamentarians will adopt an outcome document, which will be presented to the President of MC13.

On 8 February 2024, the European Parliament called for comprehensive institutional reform package of the WTO during MC13. On 19 February 2024, the Trade Committee will exchange with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis on the ongoing negotiations towards an outcome document of the MC13.
