Tiešie nodokļi: iedzīvotāju un uzņēmumu aplikšana ar nodokļiem
Eiropas Savienības tiesību aktos nav tieši reglamentēti tiešo nodokļu jautājumi. Tomēr gan vairākas direktīvas, gan arī Eiropas Savienības Tiesas judikatūra veido saskaņotus standartus uzņēmumu un privātpersonu aplikšanai ar nodokļiem. Turklāt ir veikti pasākumi, lai nepieļautu izvairīšanos no nodokļu maksāšanas un nodokļu dubultu uzlikšanu.
Vispārējā nodokļu politika
Nodokļu sistēma ir dalībvalstu prerogatīva, un ES šajā jautājumā ir tikai ierobežota kompetence. Tā kā ES nodokļu politika ir vērsta uz vienotā tirgus netraucētas darbības nodrošināšanu, saskaņota netiešo nodokļu uzlikšana notika pirms tiešo nodokļu uzlikšanas.
